QUICK LOOK
The Russian alphabet, also known as the Cyrillic alphabet, consists of 33 letters. It was developed in the First Bulgarian Empire during the 9th century and was created by the brothers Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius. The alphabet is used to write the Russian language and several other languages across Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It includes 10 vowels (а, е, ё, и, о, у, ы, э, ю, я), 21 consonants (б, в, г, д, ж, з, й, к, л, м, н, п, р, с, т, у, ф, х, ц, ч, ш, щ), and 2 signs: the soft sign (ь) and the hard sign (ъ), which modify the pronunciation of preceding consonants. The Russian alphabet is written in a cursive form in handwriting and has both uppercase and lowercase letters.
